Why Vaccination Timing Matters
Vaccines work best when they are given on schedule, because the schedule is built around the ages at which a child is most vulnerable to each disease and most able to respond to the vaccine. A dose given late is still worth having — it is almost never too late to catch up — but the window of unnecessary risk in between is the part worth avoiding. If your child has fallen behind, bring the immunisation record in and we will work out a catch-up plan rather than starting again from the beginning.
Adults Need Vaccines Too
Immunisation is widely treated as something that finishes in childhood, which leaves a lot of adults unprotected. Tetanus boosters lapse after ten years. Influenza changes enough each year to warrant an annual shot, and matters considerably more if you are over 60, pregnant, diabetic, or living with a heart or lung condition. Hepatitis B is worth checking if you work in healthcare or have never been vaccinated, and HPV vaccination remains valuable well into adulthood.
Cold Chain and Safety
A vaccine that has been allowed to warm up may look completely normal and do nothing at all. We maintain strict cold-chain storage from delivery through to administration, which is the single most important factor in whether a vaccine actually protects the person receiving it. After any vaccination we ask you to wait a short while at the clinic so that the rare immediate reaction can be managed on the spot, and we explain which mild effects — soreness, a low fever, a day of irritability in small children — are normal and expected.

My child has missed some vaccines. Is it too late?
Almost never. Bring your child's immunisation record to the clinic and we will work out a catch-up schedule from where you are, rather than restarting the course. Most missed doses can be brought back on track without any loss of protection.
Do adults need vaccinations?
Yes. Tetanus boosters are due roughly every ten years, influenza vaccination is worth repeating annually, and Hepatitis B and HPV vaccination are recommended for many adults. Annual flu vaccination is particularly important if you are over 60, pregnant, diabetic, or have a heart or lung condition.
Is it safe to vaccinate my child if they have a mild cold?
A mild cold without fever is usually not a reason to postpone vaccination. A significant fever or an active illness generally is. Tell us what the symptoms are when you arrive and we will advise whether to proceed or reschedule.
What side effects should I expect?
Soreness at the injection site, a mild fever, and a day of tiredness or irritability in small children are common and settle on their own. We ask you to wait a short while at the clinic afterwards so that any rare immediate reaction can be dealt with straight away, and we explain what would warrant coming back.

Do you provide travel vaccinations?
Yes. We advise on and provide common travel immunisations including typhoid, Hepatitis B, and tetanus. Come in well before you travel where possible, as some vaccines need more than one dose or time to take effect.
