Medical Services in Kodambakkam, Chennai

Two senior doctors, one clinic on Rangarajapuram Main Road: general medicine with Dr. Usha Sukumaran and orthopedics with Dr. S.S. Sukumaran, each with more than 30 years in practice.

Most people arrive here with one of two kinds of problem. The first is something acute — a fever that is not settling, an infection, a wound that needs dressing, a joint that gave way. The second is something long-term that needs watching rather than fixing: diabetes, blood pressure, a thyroid dose that needs adjusting, arthritis that is slowly limiting what you can do.

A neighbourhood clinic is well suited to both, for the same reason. Being close by means an acute problem gets seen on day one or two instead of day five, and it means a chronic one actually gets reviewed on schedule rather than once a year when something goes wrong. A blood test arranged in the morning can be reviewed the same evening. A blood pressure reading can be repeated on three separate days, which is how hypertension is properly confirmed, instead of treated off one anxious reading.

We are an outpatient clinic, not a hospital. That means consultation, diagnosis, minor procedures and follow-up — and an honest referral when something needs admission, imaging or a sub-specialist we do not provide. Walk in during clinic hours, or call +91 9176343672.

Questions patients ask before a first visit

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

You can walk in during clinic hours — Monday to Saturday, 9am to 12pm and 4pm to 8pm, and Sunday 10am to 12pm. If you would rather fix a time, call or WhatsApp +91 9176343672. Walk-ins are seen in turn, so mornings just after opening and the start of the evening session are usually the quietest.

Which doctor should I see for my symptoms?

For fever, infections, diabetes, blood pressure, thyroid problems, general illness and routine check-ups, see Dr. Usha Sukumaran (General Physician), who consults 9am–12pm and 4pm–6pm Monday to Saturday. For joint pain, back pain, fractures, arthritis and sports injuries, see Dr. S.S. Sukumaran (Orthopedic Surgeon), who consults 6pm–8pm Monday to Saturday. If you are unsure, come in — we will direct you.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

Bring any previous prescriptions, recent test reports, and the actual packets or strips of every medicine you currently take, including anything bought over the counter. The medicine list matters more than most patients expect: it prevents duplicate prescribing and interactions, and it is far more reliable than trying to recall names from memory.

Can you arrange blood tests, and how quickly do results come back?

Yes. Routine blood work — blood sugar, HbA1c, thyroid function, complete blood count, dengue and typhoid testing — can usually be arranged the same morning, with results reviewed the same evening. For an acute fever, that generally means a diagnosis within a day rather than across several appointments.

Is Srinivasa Health Clinic a hospital?

No. Srinivasa Health Clinic is an outpatient clinic on Rangarajapuram Main Road, Kodambakkam. We provide consultation, diagnosis, dressings and minor procedures, injections and IV fluids, vaccinations and follow-up care. We do not offer inpatient admission, major surgery or a 24-hour emergency department. If you need one of those, we will assess you and refer you appropriately.

Do you treat children and elderly patients?

Yes. We provide both paediatric and geriatric care, and a large share of our patients are families we see across several generations. For older patients we routinely review the whole medicine list rather than a single complaint, since interactions and doses that were right ten years ago often are not now.
